What this challenge measures

Sequence Memory presents a growing pattern one step at a time. Repeat the sequence correctly to advance to the next level.

Scores are recreational and can vary by device, browser, display, input hardware, and environment. They are not diagnostic assessments.

About your score

Higher is better. Your personal best and recent completed runs are stored only in this browser on this device.

How to use this sequence memory test

Sequence Memory presents an ordered pattern of colored pads and asks you to reproduce it exactly. Each successful round adds another step, creating a simple repeatable test of short-term ordered recall.

Some players group several steps into small chunks instead of remembering every press independently. Harder modes display the sequence faster, so consistent screen position and minimizing distractions can make your own sessions easier to compare.

How the score works

Higher levels are better. A run ends when the entered sequence no longer matches the displayed order, and your best completed level is stored for that difficulty.

Questions about this challenge

How is sequence memory different from visual memory?

Visual Memory focuses on locations in a grid, while Sequence Memory requires you to remember the exact order in which cues appeared.

Does faster playback make the test harder?

Yes. Less time between cues gives you less opportunity to rehearse each step before the full sequence must be repeated.

What should I compare over time?

Compare the highest level reached within the same difficulty and on a similar device setup.
